Cincy North Pitch is a mobile-inspired fan platform designed to run in a web browser, allowing fans to interact with the experience as if it were an app while using a mobile browser.

The concept focuses on the creative and community-driven side of women’s soccer fandom rather than just scores or statistics.

The platform gives fans a place to share artwork, memes, and discussions, participate in polls, and organize watch parties or meetups. The goal of the project was to design a digital space that feels casual, expressive, and welcoming while keeping the interface simple enough for users to quickly explore and engage with the community.

Audience

  • Fans of women’s soccer (ages 18–40)

  • Casual sports fans who enjoy online communities

  • Users familiar with platforms like Reddit, Tumblr, or Discord

Context

The project focused on designing and testing a community platform that allows fans to interact through posts, polls, and shared events. Research and usability testing were used to evaluate how users navigated the experience and interacted with key features such as commenting, event participation, and community discussions.

Project Hurdles

Balancing Community and Functionality

The platform needed to support several features such as posts, polls, events, and discussions without overwhelming users with too many options at once.

My responsibilities involved creating user flows, wireframes, and prototypes, followed by refining the designs through two usability testing sessions to identify pain points, confusion, and interface issues.

I conducted two moderated usability testing sessions to evaluate how users interacted with the app within a browser-based experience.

Testing focused on key tasks such as navigating the homepage, engaging with community features like posts and polls, and completing actions within events such as RSVPing.

Research revealed that:

Previous Design

Navigation needed clearer page structure and labeling across sections.

The RSVP and event creation flow needed to feel more intuitive and reliable.

Poll visibility and forum organization needed improvement to support easier engagement.

Based on usability testing, several updates were made to improve clarity and interaction across the platform. Improvements included:

New Improvements

High Fidelity

01

Designing Cincy North Pitch helped me think more intentionally about how community features work together in a digital space. Usability testing showed that while users enjoyed the creative and social aspects, clearer structure improved how easily they could navigate the platform.

Reorganizing sections like Gallery, Polls, and Forums into one Hub created a more connected experience and reinforced how testing and iteration can lead to more thoughtful, community-focused design.
